PEAK PERFORMANCE FOR PERFORMING ARTISTS AND OTHER CREATIVES

Flow, Freedom, Focus: Peak Performance for Creatives

Welcome to a research-based approach for performing and creative artists seeking to conquer the mind-heart-body blocks that hinder their productivity, creativity, and brilliance. If you've battled stage fright, grappled with performance anxiety, faced writer's block, or felt your creativity slipping away, you're not alone.

This is where Catbird’s peak performance approach can help — moving you beyond mindset work, creativity coaching, guidance from mentors, or just more practice, practice, practice.

This unique method swiftly unearths the root causes of your barriers and removes them, using cutting-edge techniques from HeartMath™ training, positive psychology, the EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Performance Protocol, and Brainspotting Performance Expansion. The result is a heart-brain-body coherence that you may have never experienced before.

Who can benefit from this peak performance approach?

Actors + Performance Artists

Acting/performing is mentally and physically taxing. In a 2015 study, 25% of actors reported having crippling performance anxiety. And the more professional training and experience an actor had, the more likely they experienced this. This can negatively affect the artist’s livelihood and longevity in the field.

Musicians + Singers + Dancers

Musicians, singers, and dancers can suffer from repetitive movement or use injuries, stage fright, and other debilitating problems that can keep them from performing at their finest. Sometimes these artists stop performing completely or take many months to years to recover.

Fine Artists + Writers

Sometimes writers and fine artists hit a wall, a creative block so big and strong that it’s difficult to overcome. When no mindset work, rest time, or pushing through helps much, it’s important to know that there is an effective way to overcome the block and return to flow.

The peak performance process explained

In a nutshell, this is the peak performance approach we will use to get you to the peak level you desire.

  1. Understand the problem. This includes my talking with you extensively to get a detailed history of the performance issue or block and how it has manifested in the past and present. I may want to talk with other members of your team—teachers, coaches, mentors, etc.—to get their perspectives and insights. Sometimes on-site observation and consultation is required in order to get the full picture of what is happening.

  2. Learn and practice Heartmath™ techniques to calm the nervous system and create coherence between brain, heart, and body. I can teach you these techniques, and then you will practice them daily until you feel you have mastered them.

  3. Use the EMDR Performance Protocol and Brainspotting to get to the essential cause of the performance problem and deactivate whatever is interfering with your performance. Sometimes we supplement this with Brainspotting, another neuro-based approach.

  4. Follow up to insure that you can maintain coherence consistently and are performing at the level you desire continually.

Why this specific peak performance method for performers and creatives?

Because it goes beyond mindset tools, exposure therapy, and traditional rituals to get to the root of the anxiety or block, alleviate it effectively, and create coherence and flow.

The result?

Stage fright, artist’s block, lack of flow, and anxiety are all significantly reduced, and the artist can focus on their art and craft.

Using this peak performance approach, you should see improvement after just a few meeting with me. Lasting change can happen within weeks or months.
